Impressed with this little gem in Chester County. Salmon was great and the Crab App equally good.

If I could give a zero rating I would! Very over priced for not good food, which really is too bad. The atmosphere is wonderful, very relaxing and good waitresses. Here's an example of the food, four very gritty scallops for $24 with five string beans. My husband didn't even finish his pork rib eye and trust me he's not fussy. Our bill was over $70 for not food. Don't bother to stop by, we aren't going back!

Excellent lunch. The prices were reasonable, the selection was awesome and varied, and the service was really good too. I would definitely come back, and I think it deserves a higher rating than it currently has (3.5 stars as of now).

Wonderful Sunday Brunch! Very impressed with Eagle Tavern's Sunday brunch. Not just your usual breakfast items. They had lobster bisque with sherry; stuffed pork medallions; smoked salmon; kale salad. In addition to buffet items, they also offer cooked to order items such as dutch apple pancakes; pecan french toast; and omelettes. All the food (except the hash), was excellent and well worth the price ($17 for adults and $11 for kids). Service was attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

Went there for lunch. Had the Thursday special of "twin lobster tails Thursday ". Generous serving of 2 4 ounce lobster tails broiled to perfection, twice baked potato (yummy), seared green beans with cauliflower florets. Deliciously delightful meal. My daughter had the burger special of the day, 1/2 lb. Angus beef with Bleu cheese and Carmelized onions, and an order of fries. Wonderful atmosphere, attentive waitress, reasonable prices. The twin lobster tails was 21.99 and burger platter was 12.00. Would definitely return. Perhaps I'll try either dinner or their Sunday brunch!

Had dinner here with a friend about a week ago, we sat at the bar and ordered the ribs and a prime rib dip. It was the best I've ever had, seriously. The dip was delelicous and the ribs were fall-apart tender. The bartender was super friendly as well. Castaway IPA on tap was a bonus! Can't wait to return for another prime rib dip!

New owners are doing a nice job. New menu with lots of great choices and something new every time we stop in. The seafood croissant is my new favorite and their soups are always delicious.

We had the pleasure of having a late lunch at the tavern, before taking a hot air ballon ride with Air Ventures, nearby. Not only was the service great, the food was tasty, fresh & very enjoyable. We are hoping to come back to the tavern with family next time. We would not hesitate to recommend the Eagle Tavern for lunch, and going to do dinner next time.

My husband an I have been eating and drinking here for two years. We love it. The staff are so attentive, knowledgable and friendly. The food is always fresh and nicely prepared. The menu is varied enough that you can bring your parents for a nice dinner or stop by after work and have a beer and munchies. Thanks Eagle!!

I went into the Eagle Tavern for the first time in years and was in for a total surprise (for the good!) The new owners have brightened up the entire place - the atmosphere was great and the food was even better!! When I had eaten there in the past it was dark and dreary. The decor and vibe is totally fresh - it's not what your grandparent's were used to. The food was amazing - everything was fresh and delicious! The portions were generous and the presentation was very nice. We even had dessert which was yummy as well! I went in again recently for drinks at the bar. The crowd was fun but not overwhelming. It's a great little local place to hang out. If you haven't been there in years because of what it used to be like, you should definitely give it a shot again!! Well worth it - will definitely be back!

Let's say 3.5 out of 5. Very good, but expensive for good food. My family was returning for a late Saturday at the PA Renaissance Festival and we were looking for a nice sit down good meal, which is exactly what we encountered. We arrived about 8 PM, the parking lot was almost full, but looked like there was room ready for us. The hostess greeted us in the warmly lit entrance way and told use she would sit us shortly. There was live guitar music played through the speakers in the restaurant from a musician sitting between the bar and a small seating area with booths. The music as very soothing. As the hostess brought us to our table we noticed that most of the patrons were older, above 40, whether couples or foursomes. The food looked plentiful and each looked like they were enjoying themselves. My youngest and I had wings and a salad. The wings were fried perfectly and very hot, a bit too much oil had accumulated on the plate. I asked for a Caribbean jerk dry rub that was more like Italian seasonings with rosemary sprinkled on top. They definitely need to change the name or the way the prepare this dish. The salads were fresh and included little fried pieces for Parmesan (very nice), though I have to say a small end piece of red onion should not have been included. The french onion soup was good and hot, nice cheese and bread. My wife had the bacon wrapped pork medallions, which were a little tough; one piece was under cooked, as well as, the bacon. I think I've spoiled her because I've cooked this for her many times, but pork tenderloin should not be tough. She loved the roasted potatoes and commented how creamy they were; they best part of her meal. My two daughters enjoyed their meals very well - roasted salmon and Parmesan crusted chicken breast. Our waitress was excellent and checked on our satisfaction. We did not have an alcoholic beverages or deserts. The check was accurate and quickly returned. Again - good food, good atmosphere, good staff, but high prices make it a bit unreasonable for a drop by - I don't see why the regulars would continue since there was only a single special, unless there are coupons available.

Came here with a livingsocial deal. Had the tavern burger with swiss and it was nice and juicy. I asked for med rare but came out medium. Still it wasn't dry at all. It came with a cup of fries and the whole set up looked awesome. Huge bun, didn't get to finish it. Best burger I've had in months. Had the carrot cake cheesecake for dessert. Such a great idea combining the two. The frosting was overly sweet but the cake itself was amazing. Note the menu online differed from the menu in house. Aside from the burgers, expect to pay an extra buck for entrees. But judging on the careful preparation of a simple burger, I think the other entrees will follow suit.

Used to love this place. Nothing bad to complain, just food was not as tasty. $22 for entree of 4 small scallops was tasty, but just outrageous for the price. When it came out, I thought it was an appetizer. Went home hungry even I tried to stuff myself with bread. Another visit, wings and salad was....let's say Wegmans was better and cheaper.

The new owners have done a really nice job with new decor, new menus and good service. We had lunch with friends and were nicely rewarded with large portions, endless iced tea and smiling faces from all. Good job Eagle...we will return for one of your evening events like twin lobster tails, or Tasting Menu.

Great service. The food was just above average but considering the price I would bump it down a notch to average. If you order spicy it should have a kick and not a whimper.

Whoa.... New owners.... The food has taken a giant leap forward with a new chef and a great new attitude! The menu is just starting to reflect the efforts being put forth by the kitchen. Give this place a little time and we'll be waiting for tables. On the way to becoming a new destination spot in Chester County.

I like it a lot better with the new owners. The inside has really been spruced up, the menu has been updated, and the food is delicious. The best part is they just started serving brunch on Sundays. There's not a lot of local places that have breakfast, without heading into Exton. The brunch is wonderful. It's a smaller buffet with lots of options (both breakfast and other items), but then you can also order from the kitchen. We tried their poached eggs (cooked perfectly), the dutch apple pancakes (served in a little cast iron pan with cooked apples on top), and the ham and swiss crepes (baked in the oven). I can't wait to go back and work my way through the chef's items (omelettes, French toast, prime rib, and so on).

Joe, you're right you have been wrongly accused, nobody could have possibly been sickened after eating at your establishment. Then again, there are two food related illness reports out of thirty nine on Yelp and it appears that bad mouthing your victims is your only response Unfortunately it's microbiology and not your ability to insult that counts for proper food handling Joe. Proper food temperature, clean food surfaces and hygienic food preparation techniques are what matters. A failure of any or all may result in a patron's illness. In my opinion eating at a restaurant is not like buying a lottery ticket. You don't sit down for dinner hoping for a "win" by surviving the experience by not being poisoned. Joe, go ahead you may now respond by telling me my expectations are unrealistic.

Good food and a nice atmosphere. Echoing what others have said, the overall quality of the restaurant has gone up since the new owners took over. A local club I belong to has monthly dinners here, and the service and food is quite good. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

My mom and I were in the area and stopped here to unwind. The bar was full with an older crowd for happy hour. The crowd, mainly locals, was pleasant and chatting to each other but, not intrusive. We had $2.00 draft Yuengling. The bartender, Scott was efficient and fun. Serious beer drinkers please stay away. Craft beer is not featured and the Guinness is not poured properly resulting in a glass of foam. The decor has been updated but , don't expect anything trendy. Steamers were not on the menu but, available. They were served in a decent garlic sauce akin to that which comes with white mussels. We needed to ask for bread for dipping. The bread was very average. The center had a Wonder Bread consistency. The Calamari appetizer was served with hot peppers and olives. The texture was a bit chewy and though not technically undercooked, the batter had an unappealing beige color as though the fryer was not up to temperature. For the price, fresh calamari should have been served. I'd stop by for a drink again if I were in the area. Having sampled the menu, I wouldn't dine here because the menu prices are high for average quality food.

I attened this place for a company luncheon. The ambiance and the atmosphere were very nice, and it wasn't at all drafty (which suprised me since it is an older building). However, I ordered the fish-and-chips and it gave me food poisoning. So I will not be coming back to the restaurant.

Had their steak sandwich which very well could have been among the best I've ever had. The calamari was excellent too. Service was professional and friendly. Will be back ASAP.

I have always wanted to try this place after passing it several times and since we now live closer to here we decided to give it a shot. We walked in and decided to have a seat at the bar. Sitting down you feel uncomfortable if you arent local since the bartender we had completely ignored us after handing us our drinks and a menu. He was very chatty with the other customers but didnt make us feel welcome here. A bartender is supposed to be warm and welcoming. This guy wasnt, I also noticed he was asking another customer for their opinion on certain menu items. Very weird. I dont know if its because we werent dressed accordingly or what, but when I go to a place like this I expect it to be a relaxed t-shirt and shorts kinda place. waited for 15 minutes and he still never came back to ask if we wanted to order anything. We decided to get a real booth and sit down. I decided to get the fish and chips and my girlfriend went with the pickering pasta which is alfredo pasta with beef tips on the top. Our server was very friendly and prompt. her meal came with a salad and some hot, toasted bread with some oil for dipping which was a nice touch I thought. Finally our food came out and as soon as hit hit the table we were both disappointed. My fish and chips were swimming in grease and they were clearly frozen and not freshly made as stated in the menu, it looked like 2 Gordons frozen fish pieces you can get in the supermarket for a few bucks with a cup of fries (which were also frozen) on the side. All this for $12.00? It came with coleslaw as well which was from a jar. My girlfriends dish was a plate of pasta smothered in bland alfredo sauce and 2 pieces of grilled beef on top. the alfredo sauce was clearly from a jar and had zero flavor. even the server tried it and she agreed as well and its "usually good". they claim the sauce is homemade which i highly doubt since this had no flavor at all. so after a few bites she sent it back and went with the marsh harbor garlic grilled shrimp. this was a little better but for $12.50 it was basically a huge plate of spaghetti in some sort of scampi sauce and 3 shrimp on top which werent even grilled. you can find this same dish at olive garden which would be a lot better. after a few bites of that we decided to just grab a box and leave. but before leaving the manager came over and wanted our input, my girlfriend was trying to explain to him what she didnt like about the first dish, but he kept interrupting her asking her if it "need more salt"? or "more pepper"? we told him t grab us a box and he said he would be right back with it but had our server bring it instead. it really showed how much he cared. the only thing i will give them is they comped us our drinks and the first dish she didnt like. we had a $40 for $20 groupon voucher which we used to pay the bill and didnt cover alcohol, so kudos to them. i feel for the type of atmosphere and prices they are charging the food should blow you away. as one of the other reviewers mentioned, a meal from wegmans would have been better.

Went there on Sunday evening in a party of four. Two had steak which they would rate a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. Two of us had pasta with seafood dishes which we would rate as 2 out of 10. One dish was pasta with shrimp and small lobster tail and the pasta was the consistence of mashed potatoes, covered with a light green sauce that tasted like chicken broth. The other dish was ravioli stuffed with lobster, but it was minced up and was surely some type of faux lobster. The pasta was obviously frozen and it was very undercooked. Also covered by the same green sauce that tasted like chicken broth. Awful food for the seafood dishes and too expensive for what you get. One person complained to the waitress about the mushy pasta and she offered her another side dish. Not very good service either. The bar might be good because it was packed, the restaurant was not.

What an enjoyable dinner and drink experience -- from beginning to end! Our server, Katie, was so friendly and helpful when recommending the specials of the evening. We had the snapper soup, tempura shrimp with scallop mousse, scallops orecchiette, and cheddar crab casserole. Everything was fantastic. From the specials, to the Tavern favorites, everything was great. Before the bill came out, we attempted to guess the total cost of the meal and were over by $30!! The moral of this story is: Eagle Tavern offers a delicious, affordable, and a fantastic culinary experience coupled with a warm Chester Springs ambience.

We dined here on 2/22/14 and I must say that this place is wonderful !! Walked in and was greeted right away by 2 smiling hostesses !! That's a plus right away. Then we were greeted by our lovely waitress who was very nice and attentive. There was four of us and she looked at us all instead of focusing on one. She was very knowledgeable about the food and recited the specials to us, in which we were impressed by her telling us them with a lovely description. 3 of us got the Salmon Veracruz, which was very delightful, great flavors, and tasted so fresh, and the other gotten the lamb special which she said was out of this world. I heard the Eagle Tavern got a new owner, and the new Chef is doing a great job !! Food came out quickly we thought beings it was really busy, in fact there wasn't an empty table in the dining around the time we were in. As a retired Chef, I was so impressed seeing a classic dish with a modern flare.

Went here to grab a quick lunch with my mom and daughter. Nice menu, decent prices. Food was very, very good! Service was great, everyone was friendly and we were in and out. Why not 5 stars? The bar was LOUD with growling, cheering men watching a sports game. It would'be been nice to have doors closing off the bar area to drown out some noise.

  • Deborah K.

Service was good but the food was very mediocre. The pasta in the shrimp and lobster dish was incredibly mushy and not edible. The sauce appeared to be a bland chicken stock and was tasteless. Don't waste your time or money.

  • Dave B.

Simply awful. Expect cafeteria quality and you won't be disappointed. Nothing seems to be freshly prepared with actual fresh ingredients. Appetizers were like the ones you buy in the frozen section of Costco. Not freshly prepared. Canned peas and carrots with the entree - disgusting. The only ok item was the snapper soup my buddy had. The menu is eclectic to the point of utter confusion. There doesn't seem to be a theme with this restuarant. For a good laugh try the "uptown fair" section of the menu. It includes a frozen /fried Fish and chips platter and frozen/breaded chicken tenders and fries. I never want to be Uptown in that town. My high school had better food. Eagle tavern is a "Restaurant Impossible" candidate. Avoid.

Never ever go to the Eagle Tavern. A group of us made a reservation to host a bridal shower there this coming weekend. I called on Monday to give the final headcount and the manager told me that they did not have a reservation for our group and they changed their hours so they said we were "out of luck". They made me feel like I was wrong and they talked down to me despite the fact that I know we made a reservation. When they realized they were wrong, they said they would open for us but they didn't want to bring in a chef so we had to have all cold food. I am sorry but I am not paying $17 a person for day old chicken salad and a lousy club sandwich. So 3 days before the event, I had to scramble to find a new venue and tell all the guests. People make mistakes, I wasn't upset that they lost our reservation.....it was how they talked to me. They made me out to be an idiot when the fault was all theirs! I am disgusted by the Eagle Tavern

Atmosphere was warm and friendly, staff was very polite, and the meal was very enjoyable. Congrats to the new owners. We will be returning.

We went for New Years Eve. it was ok. my entree was cold; my wife's was but she muscled through it. Met the owners at their other restaurant, I believe they are working to make changes. so we'll go back.

Avoid.

From soup (Seafood Bisque) to entrée (prime rib) to dessert everything was great. Recommend highly. Great service, great food and cozy.

Whoa.... New owners.... The food has taken a giant leap forward with a new chef and a great new attitude! The menu is just starting to reflect the efforts being put forth by the kitchen. Give this place a little time and we'll be waiting for tables. On the way to becoming a new destination spot in Chester County.

Traveling through on the Penn Turnpike with ravenous hunger. We were lucky when yelp pointed us to this tavern. Fabulous food and great prices!

Service was good but the food was very mediocre. The pasta in the shrimp and lobster dish was incredibly mushy and not edible. The sauce appeared to be a bland chicken stock and was tasteless. Don't waste your time or money.

Good food and a nice atmosphere. Echoing what others have said, the overall quality of the restaurant has gone up since the new owners took over. A local club I belong to has monthly dinners here, and the service and food is quite good. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Had an absolutely Great dinner at the "new" Eagle Tavern. So glad to have such a great place in Eagle to eat. I wish Joe, Maria and their staff the best of luck. We plan to eat there often.

Wow. What a difference a couple of months make. FRESH FRESH FRESH! While they are still getting their menu together everything has been outstanding! Just the presentation alone is worth stopping by and ordering. Just wish they had wifi....
